Language
When writing a narrative, we often use the Past Continuous for background information and the Past Simple and Past Perfect Simple to describe the sequence of events. We also use connectors of sequence such as previously, at first, in the beginning, eventually, finally and in the end to make the order of events clear. At first, we were walking and enjoying the nice weather. Previously, my brother had seen some mysterious flashing lights.
